NPHW is celebrated in every state and we create organizing and outreach materials that can be used during and after the week to advance public health issues. Each year in April, APHA serves as the organizer of National Public Health Week and develops a national campaign to educate the public, policymakers and practitioners during the week about issues related to the theme. We publish the American Journal of Public Health, which is a refereed journal, and books, issue briefs and monographs on public health issues. We speak out for public health issues and policies backed by science. APHA supports policies that encourage positive health behaviors and promote access to health services, regardless of an individual’s Barclays Slots citizenship status. We focus on the most important problems and solutions of our time.

We continue to seek solutions to public health issues and concerns as they arise. Along with these efforts, we have also campaigned for developing well-organized health departments at both the federal and local levels. The American Public Health Association was founded in 1872 at a time when scientific advances were helping to reveal the causes of communicable diseases.
